Congratulations to Riley Ross, who was selected as a D.J.'s Hero Scholarship recipient and was honored at the Salvation Army's 25th Anniversary of the D.J.'s Hero Awards at the CHI Convention Center in Omaha, NE. This honor is given in memory of D.J. Sokol, who lost his battle with cancer in 1999 at age 18. His parents, David and Peggy Sokol, established the program to honor the achievements of outstanding Nebraska high school seniors who overcome adversity and show resilience & outstanding leadership qualities in their communities. Each of the sixteen recipients receives a $12,000 scholarship.
The Milford Schools Foundation is excited to announce that the Milford Music Boosters have created a scholarship fund to honor Mr. Phil Goddard and his 23 years of teaching instrumental music at MPS.
Their goal is to reach a $10,000 balance to become an endowed scholarship fund. Once the $10,000 level is met, there will be a yearly scholarship awarded to students going into the teaching profession with preference to students focusing on the music field. Any amount received over the $10,000 will be placed in a second fund that will be used for the yearly replacement of instruments and equipment for the instrumental program.
There are two payment methods that are available. You can write a check payable to Milford Schools Foundation and place Goddard on the memo line and send it through the mail or drop the donation off at the district office. Alternatively, you can make a payment through Paypal and specify Goddard in the fund name box which appears after you select your payment method. The PayPal link can be found by going to:
